HAPPY NEW YEAR 2017! From Karen & Paul Van Buren Please share some of our 2016 in photos
In January, we spent some quiet time at the cabin we co-own on Pine Mountain Lake, near Groveland, CA.
I	In February, Paul attended the annual Washington's Birthday gathering of the California Chapter of The Society of the Cincinnati in San  Francisco.  Membership is limited to certain male descendants of officers who served for at least three years in the Revolutionary War.
In March, we traveled to Sioux Falls, SD, to spend Erik's spring break from USD Law School with him and then took a road trip down through Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Kansas.

We made the obligatory pilgrimage to Branson, MO, and although we saw a really good show, we don't need to go back again.
Karen at Bill Clinton's desk in Little Rock.  We now know that there will be only one Clinton Presidential Library there.	And we of course visited Van Buren, Arkansas.
And no trip to Arkansas would be complete without seeing the Walmart Museum in Bentonville!	Karen finally added States 48, 49 & 50 - Arkansas, Kansas & Oklahoma
In April, we visited Amy in Washington, DC, attended Oxford, University College & Rhodes Scholars reunions, and spent a few days on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
In May, the annual Los Altos Kiwanis Pet Parade!	Pine Mountain Lake was warmer in June than in January!
Our annual Methodist Church Camp, near Wilseyville, CA, just happens to be in prime marijuana country in Calaveras County!
In July, we returned to our condo in Sioux Falls, SD, and our activities included a Road Trip around Lake Superior.
We drove 1,700 miles clockwise around the lake from Duluth.	Kakabeka Falls, near Thunder Bay, Ont.

Back in South Dakota . . .

Amy came from Washington, DC, to marvel at the Falls of the Big Sioux River, where Erik had a summer internship with the Minnehaha County, SD, Public Defender.	Paul attended the 60-year reunion of his Dell Rapids, SD, High School Class of 1956 - altho he did not graduate there, they let him come.
Returning to California . . .
The Los Altos History Museum hosted a 1960s fund raising event, so we got into the spirit.	Stanford football season started. It ended with a respectable 10-3 record and a Sun Bowl win.
In September, we flew to Venice, Italy, and then cruised to Barcelona, Spain

In October, Paul again went to South Dakota, where Erik is in his third and final year at the University of South Dakota Law School

Again, in California . . .
	Paul was honored by the Los Altos Kiwanis Club as Kiwanian of the Year.  He has been a member of Kiwanis since 1972.
